Professor G ü nther Rupprechter from the Technical University of Vienna in Austria arrived in Shanghai on July 22 to carry out his visit to the Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology's Overseas High end Expert Program in 2024. Accompanying him are two postdoctoral fellows working at Vienna University of Technology: Dr. Li Xia and Dr. Shi Junjie. All three are experts in the field of heterogeneous catalysis.
On July 24th, three experts from Vienna University of Technology, along with Professor Yang Jingxia and Professor Shi Feng from Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology, gave presentations on catalytic science in the fields of gas phase and environment. Professor G ü nther Rupprechter shared with us his work on characterizing catalytic active sites using field emission microscopy (FEM) and field ion microscopy (FIM) with atomic level resolution, titled Atomic level insights in catalytic nanomaterials by in situ (spectrum -) microscopy.
Dr. Li Xia shared with us the application of Sum Frequency Generation (SFG) Vibration Spectroscopy in Heterogeneous Catalysis: CO Adsorption on Ir (111) Single Crystal and Supported Pt Nanoparticles for detecting the molecular orientation, conformation, and arrangement of adsorbates at the solid gas and gas-liquid interfaces in catalytic systems. Dr. Shi Junjie shared with us his excellent work in the design of heterogeneous catalysts under the title Design and synthesis robust catalysts: A study trip from nanoparticle catalyst to single atom alloy. Teacher Yang Jingxia and Teacher Shi Feng also introduced their recent work and had in-depth discussions with three experts on academic issues, obtaining valuable opinions.
